Argosy - Evolution Revolution
2008 is a big year for Freightliner. All three models – Columbia, Century Class and Argosy Evolution – are now available with either the Detroit Series 60 EGR or CAT Accert engines. These impressive power plants are exclusive to Australian customers, meeting all ADR 80/02 emission requirements while providing excellent fuel economy and highly reliable performance.
But the biggest news for Freightliner is the Argosy Evolution. Arguably the best US styled cab-over on the road, the Freightliner Argosy Evolution has been outselling the market at a staggering rate of two-to-one and now comes with even greater levels of standard equipment.
With a colossal chrome grille complimenting the cleverly engineered ram air intake scoops, the Argosy Evolution has a rugged new image. But image isn’t everything. The aggressively styled ram-air outlets enable the massive 1800 in2 cooling capacity to effortlessly cool the latest engine technologies.
The 2008 Argosy Evolution achieves superior cooling with the fuel-efficient Detroit Series 60 EGR, with 525 hp and 1,850 lbft. The equally efficient CAT Acert C-15 provides the motivation for the new Argosy, with 525 hp and 1,850 lbft of power.
Power and cooling efficiency design has not comprised the original cabin safety design objectives, with plenty of space in and around the cabin for easy movement. The cabin design is complemented with puckered finishings to really make you feel at home on the road.
Although the attention grabbing Argosy wants to steal the spotlight, the Century Class and Columbia have also received advanced cooling updates to accommodate for the strict emissions. The Freightliner Columbia CL112 and CL120 are also both available with Caterpillar ACERT and Detroit Diesel engines with advanced engine-mounted cooling modules for supreme cooling efficiency. The Columbia is perfect for any application, from tipper to on-highway, and with the aerodynamic cab it can really help you run smart.
